ichi Antiquités Linen Hand Dye Sumi and Persimmon Dress

By far our most special piece. An amazing dress made from hand dyed linen.

Linen dyed with ink and persimmon tannin, hand-dyed one by one by Fukuoka craftsmen.

"Kakishibu" is a traditional Japanese dye/paint of deep amber color which comes from unripe persimmons that have been fermented and aged for more than 2 years.

Susu (煤) soot is carbon produced by the incomplete combustion of organic matter and is the raw material of Sumi, traditional Japanese drawing ink. Sumi ink is made mainly from soot of burnt lamp oil or pinewood.

This dress has beautiful colors and patterns created from nature, which is a mixture of shades of the the dark ink and a light persimmon orange/peach color. The dying resembles marbling or ink painting. It is one piece of linen in the world with that exact dye pattern. Made in very limited quantities.
